SOLEMNITY OF THE HOLY FAMILY

The Word of God dwells in us richly. That is our main motivation and goal. First that we, as Christians, need to acknowledge that God does indeed dwell within us because we are His children and He is our Father. Next, we must let God do His work within us to transform ourselves into His likeness. This is an ongoing process that does not reach its completion until we are forever adjoined with Him after our death. Until then, if we are to experience our lives here on this earth in its fullest, we need to keep our focus on him who is our creator. The words that we read from Sacred Scripture and Jesus Christ need to be put in the forefront of our every action and deed. Jesus Christ must become our main focus and the central thought that occupies our consciousness continuously. It is all about Jesus Christ and how we can let Him influence our lives to make it better and more complete. Let Jesus do the work within ourselves so that we can become exemplars of the Faith and become beacons of light and hope for the rest of the world. God calls to us, we respond, and then His presence bursts forth like the noonday sun into the world, becoming part of His creation.

We are all encouraged to meditate on the message of this Sunday dedicated to the Holy Family as we enter the Christmas Season. The Holy Family, the perfect family, is set before us as a reminder how we should examine all of our relationships through the lense of God. Joseph, the Step-Father of Jesus, takes on the roll of protector, mentor, and teacher to Our Lord Jesus Christ. He was called forth in the most difficult circumstances to guide his family through many trials and tribulations. He never lost his faith and he never gave up hope. Faced with scandal, exile, and possible death, he raised his family and kept them safe. Mary, a mere 15 years old and a virgin was revealed to be the Mother of God. With unwavering faith she accepted this responsibility with love and devotion. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled himself in our humanity. He felt what we felt and experienced what we experienced for our salvation. They all survived and lived within the perfect unit of the family.

It is through the experiences in a family where we formulate our values and opinions. The foundation of our entire life is influenced by the interactions we have with our parents and siblings. It acts as a protective net and tool of instruction that will have an impact on everything: positive and negative. It is inescapable. It is within a family that we come to realize the person that we truly are. As Christian, we must make Jesus Christ the center of our family. This will indeed make it more complete. There is a difference in the entirety of the family when this is done. There is a presence of the Divine Love which surrounds all of the members. As long as this Love is present, the family is strengthened and can withstand any obstacle. For where there is love, there is God.

The presence of God’s Love can heal any wounds. So even if the family is broken or becomes broken, it can always be repaired. Just as we all have individually turned away from God in our lives, the same thing can happen within a family: husbands and wives may divorce, children may get into trouble, or some sort of crisis tears the family apart. No wound is too deep not to be healed by God’s Love. No one is perfect and no family is perfect. God doesn’t expect it to be that way. Each member of a family is important and God invites us to transform ourselves into the model of the Holy Family. This is where we find satisfaction, peace, and love. As long as this action is taken, then the road to unity will be felt and eventually accomplished regardless of when it happens. It never is too late.

Repairing the brokenness in a family naturally repairs the brokenness in us. When the process starts, we bring ourselves closer to Jesus Christ.

SOLEMNIDAD DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA

La Palabra de Dios habita en nosotros abundantemente. Esa es nuestra principal motivación y meta. En primer lugar que nosotros, como cristianos, necesitamos reconocer que Dios hace de hecho morar en nosotros porque somos sus hijos y Él es nuestro Padre. A continuación, hay que dejar que Dios haga su obra en nosotros para transformarnos a su semejanza. Este es un proceso continuo que no llega a su finalización hasta que seamos siempre lindaba con Él después de nuestra muerte. Hasta entonces, si hemos de experimentar nuestra vida aquí en la tierra en su máximo, tenemos que mantener nuestro enfoque en lo que es nuestro creador. Las palabras que leemos de la Sagrada Escritura y Jesucristo tienen que ser puesto en la vanguardia de todas nuestras acciones y hechos. Jesucristo debe ser nuestro principal objetivo y la idea central que ocupa nuestra conciencia continua. Es todo acerca de Jesucristo y cómo podemos dejar que Él influyó en nuestras vidas para que sea mejor y más completa. Deje que Jesús haga el trabajo dentro de nosotros mismos para que podamos llegar a ser ejemplos de la Fe y convertirse en faros de luz y esperanza para el resto del mundo. Dios llama a nosotros, respondemos, y luego su presencia irrumpe como el sol del mediodía en el mundo, y empezamos a formar parte de su creación.

Todos nos sentimos alentados a meditar sobre el mensaje de este domingo dedicado a la Sagrada Familia como entramos en la temporada de Navidad. La Sagrada Familia, la familia perfecta, se pone ante nosotros como un recordatorio de cómo debemos examinar todas nuestras relaciones a través de la lente de Dios. José, el padrastro de Jesús, asume el rol de protector, mentor y maestro de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Fue llamado expone en las circunstancias más difíciles para guiar a su familia a través de muchas pruebas y tribulaciones. Él nunca perdió la fe y nunca perdió la esperanza. Ante el escándalo, el exilio y la muerte posible, levantó a su familia y les mantiene a salvo. María, a tan sólo 15 años de edad y una virgen fue revelado para ser la Madre de Dios. Con una fe inquebrantable aceptó esta responsabilidad con amor y devoción. Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios, se humilló a sí mismo en nuestra humanidad. Sintió que lo que sentimos y experimentamos lo que vivimos por nuestra salvación. Todos ellos sobrevivieron y vivían dentro de la unidad perfecta de la familia.

Es a través de las experiencias de una familia en la que formulamos nuestros valores y opiniones. El fundamento de toda nuestra vida está influenciada por las interacciones que tenemos con nuestros padres y hermanos. Actúa como una red protectora y una herramienta de instrucción que tendrá un impacto en todo: positiva y negativa. Es ineludible. Es dentro de una familia que nos damos cuenta de la persona que realmente somos. Como cristianos, debemos hacer a Jesucristo el centro de nuestra familia. Este hecho hará que sea más completa. Hay una diferencia en la totalidad de la familia cuando se hace esto. Hay una presencia del Amor Divino que rodea a todos los miembros. Mientras este amor está presente, la familia se fortalece y puede soportar cualquier obstáculo. Porque donde hay amor, allí está Dios.

La presencia del amor de Dios puede sanar cualquier herida. Así que incluso si la familia se rompe o se rompen, siempre se puede reparar. Al igual que todos nos hemos convertido individual lejos de Dios en nuestras vidas, lo mismo puede suceder dentro de una familia: marido y mujer puede divorciarse, los niños pueden meterse en problemas, o algún tipo de crisis de lágrimas la familia aparte. No herida es demasiado profunda para no ser sanado por el Amor de Dios. Nadie es perfecto y ninguna familia es perfecta. Dios no espera que sea de esa manera. Cada miembro de una familia es importante y Dios nos invita a transformarnos en el modelo de la Sagrada Familia. Aquí es donde nos encontramos con la satisfacción, la paz y el amor. Mientras se toma esta acción, a continuación, se hará sentir el camino de la unidad y, finalmente, logra independencia del momento en que sucede. Nunca es demasiado tarde.

In the Scripture reading today Paul gives us hope and encouragement that the one who began the good work in us will continue to complete it. When did this good work begin? Is there a specific time that can be marked as to when we started to be transformed by Jesus Christ? We can all probably recall specific times and specific instances where we were touched by God, but is there one specific moment of alteration that we can pinpoint? Depending on where we are in our lives, this moment of enlightenment can and will change, so we must look beyond influential events and go back further to the arguably the most important event in our existence: our birth. This was when God gave us life; an act of pure, unselfish love that can never be duplicated. This was where God’s work in us began. We were introduced into His creation; sent forth to enjoy our life through Him and in Him. Our Salvation Story began there at that precious moment.

After being introduced into the world, we are then called forth to experience this life in union with Him. This becomes the difficult part because of our own will which we tend to exercise above His. Temptations and sin tend to cloud our judgment, preventing us to experience the perfection which is God. This happens to everyone, starting early on when we start to develop our own reason and make decisions for ourselves. A selfishness develops, influenced by all that is evil in this world which we are attracted to. So, the good work that was started becomes defective not because of God but because of the lack of an awareness of God. Just like a child looks up to its father and mother throughout their lives; wanting in many ways, consciously and subconsciously to be like them, we wanted to become like God. We ignored Him and tried to seize control of everything. We made decisions without His input or guidance. Yet, He still loved us and called to us. He wanted to and still wants to guide us back to a perfect unison with Him.

This is why the Son is revealed to us. Jesus Christ is presented as the pathway to salvation and God’s Love. The Word made flesh entered the world for us: to bring us back to Him. Through the Holy Spirit we experience God’s Love and Jesus stands ready to welcome us back into perfection with God. It is the most selfless, beautiful act where our creator, our God, has given us everything that is so undeserved and unearned. That is what a father does: he gives everything for his children. Whatever mistakes we have made, whatever missteps we have brought about through our selfish deeds, they are forgiven and we are afforded the opportunity to reestablish our relationship with Him. The only thing we need to do is acknowledge our sins, ask for forgiveness, and change our ways. It is a transformative experience and one that can lift us up to new heights of greatness with God through Jesus Christ.

During this Advent Season, we now focus on Hope, for we are creatures of hope. We hope that Jesus Christ will come again soon. We hope for a better life through Jesus Christ, We hope to experience God’s love continuously. This is all linked to faith and what we believe. We are asked to live what we believe and this is through walking with Jesus our Savior. The light of Christ shines within all of us. We need to recognize this and embrace it. Hope dismisses the past and focuses on that which is now and that which is to come. That which is to come can be transformed through our relationship with Jesus Christ today.

En la lectura de la Escritura de hoy Pablo nos da esperanza y aliento que el que comenzó la buena obra en nosotros continuará para completarlo. ¿Cuándo comenzó esta buena obra? ¿Hay un tiempo específico que puede ser marcada en cuanto a cuando empezamos a ser transformados por Jesucristo? Todos podemos probablemente recordamos momentos específicos y casos específicos en los que fueron tocados por Dios, pero ¿hay un momento específico de alteración que podemos identificar? Dependiendo de dónde nos encontramos en nuestra vida, en este momento de la iluminación puede y va a cambiar, por lo que debemos mirar más allá de los acontecimientos influyentes y volver más a la sin duda el evento más importante en nuestra existencia: nuestro nacimiento. Esto fue cuando Dios nos dio la vida; un acto de amor puro y desinteresado que nunca puede ser duplicada. Aquí fue donde comenzó la obra de Dios en nosotros. Es por esto que el Hijo se nos revela. Jesucristo se presenta como el camino a la salvación y el amor de Dios. La Palabra hecha carne entró en el mundo por nosotros para llevarnos de regreso a Él. Por medio del Espíritu Santo que experimentamos el amor de Dios y Jesús está dispuesto a darnos la bienvenida de vuelta a la perfección con Dios. Es el hermoso acto más desinteresado, donde nuestro creador, nuestro Dios, nos ha dado todo lo que es tan inmerecido y no ganado. Eso es lo que hace un padre: él da todo por sus hijos. Sea cual sea errores que hemos cometido errores, lo que sea que hemos provocado a través de nuestros actos egoístas, les quedan perdonados y que tienen la oportunidad de restablecer nuestra relación con Él. Lo único que tenemos que hacer es reconocer nuestros pecados, pedir perdón, y cambiar nuestras maneras. Es una experiencia transformadora y que puede levantarnos a nuevas alturas de la grandeza con Dios por medio de Jesucristo.

Durante este tiempo de Adviento, ahora centramos en la esperanza, porque somos criaturas de la esperanza. Esperamos que Jesucristo vendrá otra vez pronto. Esperamos por una vida mejor a través de Jesucristo, Esperamos experimentar el amor de Dios continuamente. Todo esto está ligado a la fe y lo que creemos. Se nos pide que vivir lo que creemos y esto es a través de caminar con Jesús nuestro Salvador. La luz de Cristo brilla dentro de todos nosotros. Tenemos que reconocer esto y abrazarlo. Esperanza rechaza el pasado y se centra en lo que es ahora y lo que está por venir. Lo que está por venir se puede transformar a través de nuestra relación con Jesucristo hoy.
