Reading 1 Gn 18:20-32

In those days, the LORD said: "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great,
and their sin so grave,
that I must go down and see whether or not their actions
fully correspond to the cry against them that comes to me.
I mean to find out."

While Abraham's visitors walked on farther toward Sodom,
the LORD remained standing before Abraham.
Then Abraham drew nearer and said:
"Will you sweep away the innocent with the guilty?
Suppose there were fifty innocent people in the city;
would you wipe out the place, rather than spare it
for the sake of the fifty innocent people within it?
Far be it from you to do such a thing,
to make the innocent die with the guilty
so that the innocent and the guilty would be treated alike!
Should not the judge of all the world act with justice?"
The LORD replied,
"If I find fifty innocent people in the city of Sodom,
I will spare the whole place for their sake."
Abraham spoke up again:
"See how I am presuming to speak to my Lord,
though I am but dust and ashes!
What if there are five less than fifty innocent people?
Will you destroy the whole city because of those five?"
He answered, "I will not destroy it, if I find forty-five there."
But Abraham persisted, saying "What if only forty are found there?"
He replied, "I will forbear doing it for the sake of the forty."
Then Abraham said, "Let not my Lord grow impatient if I go on.
What if only thirty are found there?"
He replied, "I will forbear doing it if I can find but thirty there."
Still Abraham went on,
"Since I have thus dared to speak to my Lord,
what if there are no more than twenty?"
The LORD answered, "I will not destroy it, for the sake of the twenty."
But he still persisted:
"Please, let not my Lord grow angry if I speak up this last time.
What if there are at least ten there?"
He replied, "For the sake of those ten, I will not destroy it."

Brothers and sisters:
You were buried with him in baptism,

 obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims,
which was opposed to us,

Gospel Lk 11:1-13         

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished,
one of his disciples said to him,
"Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
He said to them, "When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,
and do not subject us to the final test."

And he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend
to whom he goes at midnight and says,
'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey
and I have nothing to offer him,'
and he says in reply from within,
'Do not bother me; the door has already been locked
and my children and I are already in bed.
I cannot get up to give you anything.'
I tell you,
if he does not get up to give the visitor the loaves
because of their friendship,
he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.

"And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish?
Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

My Brothers and Sisters,

The words of the Apostle Paul should give us great comfort and also remind us daily what Jesus Christ has done for us. Paul writes,

“And even when you were dead
in transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
he brought you to life along with him,
having forgiven us all our transgressions;
 obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims,
which was opposed to us,”

What an amazing choice of words! All the bonds against us were obliterated and we were brought to life with Him. This is our birthright and this is what should define us always as Christians. What He did for us was no small thing and it is something that we should thank Him for daily. Obliterated means that the fear of death and the Gates of Hell have no power over us. We have achieved salvation, forgiveness, and a new life by just recognizing Jesus and accepting Him for who He is. All the work has been done for us and what remains is an invitation for us to take what is being offered to us and live our lives with that knowledge.

Jesus also offers us a promise that whatever we need will be provided to us. Whatever we ask for will be given. Whatever we seek will be found.  A life with Jesus dispels the anxiety and fear that would otherwise plague us because He has made these promises to us and He would never break them. As we strengthen our relationship with Him we will come to a deeper understanding that what He says is true. Yes, there will be times when we will question what He says and what is written in Sacred Scripture but it is during these times that we should pray even more; acting out our faith-life in earnest like the man knocking at his friend’s door looking for bread. When we feel lost or do not feel the presence of Jesus is when we should seek Him even more. When we do it more it is guaranteed that more will come to us.

There is a large amount of responsibility with being a Christian. When we come into relationship with Jesus Christ our actions and conduct should reflect how important Jesus is to us. Things are not done out of obligation but out of love. If we find ourselves doing the wrong things or engaging in sin then we must reflect on our relationship with Jesus and ask ourselves how we can make it stronger or experience it more in our lives. One of the ways is to acknowledge our sins and make a commitment to do better in the future knowing that He has forgiven us and is actively trying to heal us even before our acknowledgment is complete. That in itself should be comforting and an aspect of the healing process: knowing He is always with us and will do everything necessary for us to be completely healed from our self-inflicted wounds.

Psalm 138 puts our relationship with Jesus in full perspective:

“Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me”

Every day we can cry for help through prayer and the professing of our love for Him. It further shows how whatever situation that we find ourselves in can and will be solved by Him for us. He has given us life, love, and cause for celebration. The celebration begins when we recognize the love He has for us and then show how much we love Him in return. With that a new way of living is revealed that will give us the greatest amount of joy and fulfillment; more than anything in this world can offer. Jesus wants to solve all of our problems. He also wants us to understand that there wouldn’t be any problems in the first place if we didn’t turn away from Him to do what we wanted to do instead of what He wanted us to do. It is time to stop fighting against what Jesus wants. It is time to give Him what He wants. It is pretty easy because all He wants is for us to love Him. In return we will then be able to fully receive His love for us which was always here to begin with.

Gen 18, 20-32

En aquellos días, el Señor dijo a Abraham: "El clamor contra Sodoma y Gomorra es grande y su pecado es demasiado grave. Bajaré, pues, a ver si sus hechos corresponden a ese clamor; y si no, lo sabré".

Los hombres que estaban con Abraham se despidieron de él y se encaminaron hacia Sodoma. Abraham se quedó ante el Señor y le preguntó: "¿Será posible que tú destruyas al inocente junto con el culpable? Supongamos que hay cincuenta justos en la ciudad, ¿acabarás con todos ellos y no perdonarás al lugar en atención a esos cincuenta justos? Lejos de ti tal cosa: matar al inocente junto con el culpable, de manera que la suerte del justo sea como la del malvado; eso no puede ser. El juez de todo el mundo ¿no hará justicia?" El Señor le contestó: "Si encuentro en Sodoma cincuenta justos, perdonaré a toda la ciudad en atención a ellos".

Abraham insistió: "Me he atrevido a hablar a mi Señor, yo que soy polvo y ceniza. Supongamos que faltan cinco para los cincuenta justos, ¿por esos cinco que faltan, destruirás toda la ciudad?" Y le respondió el Señor: "No la destruiré, si encuentro allí cuarenta y cinco justos".

Abraham volvió a insistir: "Quizá no se encuentren allí más que cuarenta". El Señor le respondió: "En atención a los cuarenta, no lo haré".

Abraham siguió insistiendo: "Que no se enoje mi Señor, si sigo hablando, ¿y si hubiera treinta?" El Señor le dijo: "No lo haré, si hay treinta".

Abraham insistió otra vez: "Ya que me he atrevido a hablar a mi Señor, ¿y si se encuentran sólo veinte?" El Señor respondió: "En atención a los veinte, no la destruiré".

Abraham continuó: "No se enoje mi Señor, hablaré sólo una vez más, ¿y si se encuentran sólo diez?" Contestó el Señor: "Por esos diez, no destruiré la ciudad".

Col 2, 12-14

Hermanos: Por el bautismo fueron ustedes sepultados con Cristo y también resucitaron con él, mediante la fe en el poder de Dios, que lo resucitó de entre los muertos.

Ustedes estaban muertos por sus pecados y no pertenecían al pueblo de la alianza. Pero él les dio una vida nueva con Cristo, perdonándoles todos los pecados. Él anuló el documento que nos era contrario, cuyas cláusulas nos condenaban, y lo eliminó clavándolo en la cruz de Cristo.

Lc 11, 1-13

Un día, Jesús estaba orando y cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: "Señor, enséñanos a orar, como Juan enseñó a sus discípulos".

Entonces Jesús les dijo: "Cuando oren, digan:
'Padre, santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu Reino,
danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día
y perdona nuestras ofensas,
puesto que también nosotros perdonamos
a todo aquel que nos ofende,
y no nos dejes caer en tentación' ".

También les dijo: "Supongan que alguno de ustedes tiene un amigo que viene a medianoche a decirle: 'Préstame, por favor, tres panes, pues un amigo mío ha venido de viaje y no tengo nada que ofrecerle'. Pero él le responde desde dentro: 'No me molestes. No puedo levantarme a dártelos, porque la puerta ya está cerrada y mis hijos y yo estamos acostados'. Si el otro sigue tocando, yo les aseguro que, aunque no se levante a dárselos por ser su amigo, sin embargo, por su molesta insistencia, sí se levantará y le dará cuanto necesite.

Así también les digo a ustedes: Pidan y se les dará, busquen y encontrarán, toquen y se les abrirá. Porque quien pide, recibe; quien busca, encuentra, y al que toca, se le abre. ¿Habrá entre ustedes algún padre que, cuando su hijo le pida pan, le dé una piedra? ¿O cuando le pida pescado, le dé una víbora? ¿O cuando le pida huevo, le dé un alacrán? Pues, si ustedes, que son malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, ¿cuánto más el Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes se lo pidan?''

Mis hermanos y hermanas,

Las palabras del apóstol Pablo deben brindarnos un gran consuelo y también recordarnos diariamente lo que Jesucristo ha hecho por nosotros. Pablo escribe,

"E incluso cuando estabas muerto

en las transgresiones y en la incircuncisión de tu carne,

Él te trajo a la vida junto con él,

habiéndonos perdonado todas nuestras transgresiones;

 destruyendo el vínculo contra nosotros, con sus reclamaciones legales,

que se oponía a nosotros "

¡Qué increíble elección de palabras! Todas las ataduras contra nosotros fueron eliminadas y fuimos traídos a la vida con él. Este es nuestro derecho de nacimiento y esto es lo que nos debe definir siempre como cristianos. Lo que Él hizo por nosotros no fue una cosa pequeña y es algo por lo que debemos agradecerle a Él diariamente. Obliterado significa que el miedo a la muerte y las Puertas del Infierno no tienen poder sobre nosotros. Hemos logrado la salvación, el perdón y una nueva vida con solo reconocer a Jesús y aceptarlo por lo que es. Todo el trabajo se ha hecho por nosotros y lo que queda es una invitación para que tomemos lo que se nos ofrece y vivamos nuestras vidas con ese conocimiento.

Jesús también nos ofrece la promesa de que todo lo que necesitemos nos será proporcionado. Lo que pidamos será dado. Todo lo que buscamos será encontrado. Una vida con Jesús disipa la ansiedad y el temor que de otra manera nos atormentarían porque Él nos hizo estas promesas y nunca las rompería. A medida que fortalecemos nuestra relación con Él, llegaremos a un entendimiento más profundo de que lo que Él dice es verdadero. Sí, habrá ocasiones en que cuestionaremos lo que Él dice y lo que está escrito en la Sagrada Escritura, pero es en estos momentos que debemos orar aún más; actuando en serio nuestra vida de fe como el hombre que toca la puerta de su amigo en busca de pan. Cuando nos sentimos perdidos o no sentimos la presencia de Jesús es cuando debemos buscarlo aún más. Cuando lo hagamos más se garantiza que vendrán más.

Hay una gran cantidad de responsabilidad con ser cristiano. Cuando entramos en relación con Jesucristo, nuestras acciones y conducta deben reflejar cuán importante es Jesús para nosotros. Las cosas no se hacen por obligación sino por amor. Si nos encontramos haciendo cosas incorrectas o participando en el pecado, debemos reflexionar sobre nuestra relación con Jesús y preguntarnos cómo podemos hacerlo más fuerte o experimentarlo más en nuestras vidas. Una de las formas es reconocer nuestros pecados y comprometernos a mejorar en el futuro sabiendo que Él nos ha perdonado y está tratando de curarnos activamente incluso antes de que se complete nuestro reconocimiento. Eso en sí mismo debe ser reconfortante y un aspecto del proceso de curación: saber que Él está siempre con nosotros y hará todo lo necesario para que nos curemos completamente de nuestras heridas autoinfligidas.

El Salmo 138 pone nuestra relación con Jesús en plena perspectiva:

"Señor, el día que pedí ayuda, me respondiste"

Todos los días podemos pedir ayuda a través de la oración y la profesión de nuestro amor por Él. También muestra cómo cualquier situación en la que nos encontremos puede ser y será resuelta por Él para nosotros. Él nos ha dado vida, amor y motivo de celebración. La celebración comienza cuando reconocemos el amor que Él tiene por nosotros y luego mostramos cuánto lo amamos a cambio. Con eso se revela una nueva forma de vida que nos dará la mayor cantidad de alegría y satisfacción; Más que nada en este mundo puede ofrecer. Jesús quiere resolver todos nuestros problemas. También quiere que comprendamos que, en primer lugar, no habría ningún problema si no nos apartáramos de Él para hacer lo que queríamos hacer en lugar de lo que Él quería que hiciéramos. Es hora de dejar de luchar contra lo que Jesús quiere. Es hora de darle lo que quiere. Es bastante fácil porque lo único que Él quiere es que lo amemos. A cambio, entonces podremos recibir plenamente su amor por nosotros, que siempre estuvo aquí para empezar.

The LORD appeared to Abraham by the terebinth of Mamre,
as he sat in the entrance of his tent,
while the day was growing hot.
Looking up, Abraham saw three men standing nearby.
When he saw them, he ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them;
and bowing to the ground, he said:
"Sir, if I may ask you this favor,
please do not go on past your servant.
Let some water be brought, that you may bathe your feet,
and then rest yourselves under the tree.
Now that you have come this close to your servant,
let me bring you a little food, that you may refresh yourselves;
and afterward you may go on your way."
The men replied, "Very well, do as you have said."

Abraham hastened into the tent and told Sarah,
"Quick, three measures of fine flour! Knead it and make rolls."
He ran to the herd, picked out a tender, choice steer,
and gave it to a servant, who quickly prepared it.
Then Abraham got some curds and milk,
as well as the steer that had been prepared,
and set these before the three men;
and he waited on them under the tree while they ate.

They asked Abraham, "Where is your wife Sarah?"
He replied, "There in the tent."
One of them said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year,
and Sarah will then have a son."

Gospel Lk 10:38-42

Jesus entered a village
where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary
who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
"Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me."
The Lord said to her in reply,
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her."

My Brothers and Sisters,

 We all have a lot to do and the demands on our time seem to be getting more and more. It is easy to get frustrated with the situations in life. Coupled with fears, anxieties, resentments, and the challenges every day, things can oftentimes become overwhelming. The joys of living get overshadowed by negative thoughts and obstacles which can appear to be insurmountable. All of these things can challenge our faith-life and our relationship with God. Instead of exploring our relationship we approach it as yet another obligation or even a burden of sorts. Instead of feeling His love we feel suffocated; comparing Him to an overbearing friend making too many demands on us and who just won’t leave us alone. The result is that we tend to find better things to do with our time instead of spending it in Christian Community or with God. We fail to see the value of our work and convince ourselves that our time can be spent elsewhere.

In the Sacred Scripture Readings today we are reminded to prioritize our lives and our living with making God first. This comes in the form of our relationship to Him. If we truly believe that God is the creator of the universe and is Our Father then we must treat our relationship with him that way. He loves us and the only thing asked of us is to love Him. Once all the other emotions and confusion are cleared out of the way then the only thing left is that mutual love. It is from here that the repercussions of that relationship can be explored. This starts with a strong foundation built completely on the concept of this love. There should be no other forced obligation or duties that we feel we should perform. There should only be a wantonness to love and be loved.

Loving God and being loved by Him brings us completely into the moment. The past is forgotten and the future becomes merely a concept that never comes. This is how God wants us to approach our life and Him. Jesus mentioned this when He said,

“So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”

A total dependence on God is developed where, regardless of what circumstances we find ourselves in, we can come to belief that we will be okay because God is with us. This is where God encourages us to start our relationship with Him. There are no other prerequisites or requirements. There is only an invitation to love and be loved by God.

When we approach our relationship with God this way certain things are bound to happen. What we want starts to match what God wants for us. We will start to do things because we want to in reaction to God’s love instead of because we think we have to. Our conscious starts to be our guide and we are shown a better way to live our lives. The clearer and deeper that we know God the better we will understand what to do and how to do it. At first it may feel like a learning process and some things even may be strange to us but soon these things become an important part of our lives.

Doing things because we want to gives us a good feeling and these things do not feel like work because joyfulness is present and God is with us. Anytime we are doing the right thing and good things because we want to God is also enjoying the experience and He is also enjoying us enjoying it. Jesus pointed this out to Martha. She was complaining that her sister Mary wasn’t helping her with serving. Jesus told her to stop being so anxious about things that ultimately will pass and recognize that only one thing is really important: experiencing Him in the moment just as Mary was doing. Yes, there will be certain things demanded of us but these things will come and go. God is forever and He is with us completely even when we are distracted by worldly demands. The challenges is to dismiss these earthly demands, put less importance on them, and actually enjoy them in the company of God knowing what is in front of us will soon be gone and God will remain. To state it differently: always put God first and acknowledge His presence with joy in everything that we do.

Putting God first and exploring His love takes time and effort but it is not hard work because the rewards begin immediately. No reward goes to God but everything comes to us in a mystical experience that enables us to transcend everything on this earth. By our actions we clear away our clutter and make a pathway to God. In God and through our relationship with Him is where pure joy and an answer to all of our calamities reside.

Gen 18, 1-10a

Un día, el Señor se le apareció a Abraham en el encinar de Mambré. Abraham estaba sentado en la entrada de su tienda, a la hora del calor más fuerte. Levantando la vista, vio de pronto a tres hombres que estaban de pie ante él. Al verlos, se dirigió a ellos rápidamente desde la puerta de la tienda, y postrado en tierra, dijo: "Señor mío, si he hallado gracia a tus ojos, te ruego que no pases junto a mí sin detenerte. Haré que traigan un poco de agua para que se laven los pies y descansen a la sombra de estos árboles; traeré pan para que recobren las fuerzas y después continuarán su camino, pues sin duda para eso han pasado junto a su siervo".

Ellos le contestaron: "Está bien. Haz lo que dices". Abraham entró rápidamente en la tienda donde estaba Sara y le dijo: "Date prisa, toma tres medidas de harina, amásalas y cuece unos panes".

Luego Abraham fue corriendo al establo, escogió un ternero y se lo dio a un criado para que lo matara y lo preparara. Cuando el ternero estuvo asado, tomó requesón y leche y lo sirvió todo a los forasteros. Él permaneció de pie junto a ellos, bajo el árbol, mientras comían. Ellos le preguntaron: "¿Donde está Sara, tu mujer?" Él respondió: "Allá, en la tienda". Uno de ellos le dijo: "Dentro de un año volveré sin falta a visitarte por estas fechas; para entonces, Sara, tu mujer, habrá tenido un hijo".

Segunda lectura

Col 1, 24-28

Hermanos: Ahora me alegro de sufrir por ustedes, porque así completo lo que falta a la pasión de Cristo en mí, por el bien de su cuerpo, que es la Iglesia.

Por disposición de Dios, yo he sido constituido ministro de esta Iglesia para predicarles por entero su mensaje, o sea el designio secreto que Dios ha mantenido oculto desde siglos y generaciones y que ahora ha revelado a su pueblo santo.

Dios ha querido dar a conocer a los suyos la gloria y riqueza que este designio encierra para los paganos, es decir, que Cristo vive en ustedes y es la esperanza de la gloria. Ese mismo Cristo es el que nosotros predicamos cuando corregimos a los hombres y los instruimos con todos los recursos de la sabiduría, a fin de que todos sean cristianos perfectos.

Lk 10, 38-42

En aquel tiempo, entró Jesús en un poblado, y una mujer, llamada Marta, lo recibió en su casa. Ella tenía una hermana, llamada María, la cual se sentó a los pies de Jesús y se puso a escuchar su palabra. Marta, entre tanto, se afanaba en diversos quehaceres, hasta que, acercándose a Jesús, le dijo: “Señor, ¿no te has dado cuenta de que mi hermana me ha dejado sola con todo el quehacer? Dile que me ayude”.

El Señor le respondió: “Marta, Marta, muchas cosas te preocupan y te inquietan, siendo así que una sola es necesaria. María escogió la mejor parte y nadie se la quitará”.

Mis hermanos y hermanas,

 Todos tenemos mucho que hacer y las demandas en nuestro tiempo parecen estar obteniendo más y más. Es fácil frustrarse con las situaciones de la vida. Junto con los miedos, las ansiedades, los resentimientos y los desafíos que se presentan todos los días, muchas veces las cosas se vuelven abrumadoras. Las alegrías de vivir se ven ensombrecidas por pensamientos negativos y obstáculos que pueden parecer insuperables. Todas estas cosas pueden desafiar nuestra vida de fe y nuestra relación con Dios. En lugar de explorar nuestra relación, la consideramos como otra obligación o incluso una carga de algún tipo. En lugar de sentir su amor nos sentimos sofocados; comparándolo con un amigo dominante que nos exige demasiado y que no nos deja solos. El resultado es que tendemos a encontrar mejores cosas que hacer con nuestro tiempo en lugar de gastarlo en la comunidad cristiana o con Dios. No vemos el valor de nuestro trabajo y nos convencemos de que nuestro tiempo se puede gastar en otros lugares.

En las Lecturas de las Sagradas Escrituras de hoy, se nos recuerda que debemos priorizar nuestras vidas y nuestro vivir haciendo que Dios sea primero. Esto viene en la forma de nuestra relación con él. Si realmente creemos que Dios es el creador del universo y es nuestro Padre, entonces debemos tratar nuestra relación con él de esa manera. Él nos ama y lo único que se nos pide es amarlo. Una vez que todas las demás emociones y la confusión se eliminan, entonces lo único que queda es ese amor mutuo. Es desde aquí que se pueden explorar las repercusiones de esa relación. Esto comienza con una base sólida construida completamente sobre el concepto de este amor. No debe haber ninguna otra obligación o deber forzado que consideremos que deberíamos cumplir. Solo debe haber un desenfreno para amar y ser amado.

Amar a Dios y ser amado por Él nos lleva completamente al momento. El pasado se olvida y el futuro se convierte simplemente en un concepto que nunca llega. Así es como Dios quiere que nos acerquemos a nuestra vida y a Él. Jesús mencionó esto cuando dijo:

“Así que no te preocupes por el mañana: el mañana se cuidará solo. Suficiente para un día es su propia maldad ".

Se desarrolla una dependencia total de Dios donde, independientemente de las circunstancias en las que nos encontremos, podemos llegar a creer que estaremos bien porque Dios está con nosotros. Aquí es donde Dios nos anima a comenzar nuestra relación con él. No hay otros requisitos previos o requisitos. Solo hay una invitación a amar y ser amado por Dios.

Cuando nos acercamos a nuestra relación con Dios de esta manera, ciertas cosas tienen que suceder. Lo que queremos comienza a coincidir con lo que Dios quiere para nosotros. Comenzaremos a hacer cosas porque queremos reaccionar al amor de Dios en lugar de porque pensamos que tenemos que hacerlo. Nuestra conciencia comienza a ser nuestra guía y se nos muestra una mejor manera de vivir nuestras vidas. Cuanto más claro y profundo sea que conozcamos a Dios, mejor comprenderemos qué hacer y cómo hacerlo. Al principio puede parecer un proceso de aprendizaje y algunas cosas pueden ser extrañas para nosotros, pero pronto estas cosas se convierten en una parte importante de nuestras vidas.

Hacer cosas porque queremos darnos un buen sentimiento y estas cosas no se sienten como un trabajo porque la alegría está presente y Dios está con nosotros. En cualquier momento estamos haciendo lo correcto y lo bueno, porque queremos que Dios también esté disfrutando de la experiencia y Él también está disfrutando que nosotros disfrutemos de ella. Jesús le señaló esto a Marta. Se quejaba de que su hermana Mary no la estaba ayudando a servir. Jesús le dijo que dejara de estar tan ansiosa por las cosas que finalmente pasarán y reconocerá que solo una cosa es realmente importante: experimentarlo en el momento tal como lo estaba haciendo María. Sí, habrá ciertas cosas que se nos exijan, pero estas cosas vendrán y se irán. Dios es para siempre y Él está con nosotros completamente incluso cuando estamos distraídos por las demandas mundanas. El desafío es descartar estas demandas terrenales, ponerles menos importancia y realmente disfrutarlas en la compañía de Dios, sabiendo que lo que tenemos delante pronto desaparecerá y Dios permanecerá. Para expresarlo de manera diferente: siempre ponga a Dios primero y reconozca su presencia con alegría en todo lo que hacemos.

Poner a Dios primero y explorar su amor requiere tiempo y esfuerzo, pero no es un trabajo difícil porque las recompensas comienzan de inmediato. No hay recompensa para Dios, pero todo viene a nosotros en una experiencia mística que nos permite trascender todo en esta tierra. Con nuestras acciones, eliminamos nuestro desorden y hacemos un camino hacia Dios. En Dios y a través de nuestra relación con Él es donde reside la alegría pura y una respuesta a todas nuestras calamidades.
