Gospel Jn 16:12-15

and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you."

My Brothers and Sisters,

 Trinity Sunday invites us to contemplate the mystery of the Holy Trinity and its relationship to us. As Christians, we are invited into a relationship with the Trinity through our interactions with the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Regardless of where we are in our faith-life and our spirituality, the Trinity meets us where we are. To experience the Father we go through the Son while be guided by the Love of God which is the Holy Spirit. We will never understand everything about the Trinity but that is the expected. It is the journey to understanding which is important with the foreknowledge that all will be revealed when we are in full unity with our God. Until then, it is the experience of being in the relationship and the spirituality that it produces that really matters. It is impossible to know and understand everything but it really doesn’t matter how much we truly know only what we do with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that we receive. Knowing is an asset but experiencing God in the moment is what really matters.

The Reading from the Book of Proverbs mentions the Holy Spirit being poured out throughout God’s creation. This happens consistently and is promised to do so for eternity. It is a reminder how everything came into existence through God’s Love and continues to be because of it. Coming into relationship with Jesus Christ and through Him coming to know the Father enables us to become open to God’s Love. It is through this love that we are healed, shaped, and formed into a more perfect creature; the way that God intended us to be. We then become receivers of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and part of the Holy Trinity.

Understanding our relationship to the Trinity helps us to understand ourselves in a spiritual sense which, for many of us, has been absent for a large amount of our lives. Deepening ourselves spiritually is the key to a more joyous and complete life. Where the spirit goes so goes our mental awareness and a restructuring of our lives on a solid foundation guided by the revelations we receive from God. This brings us in communion with God; exactly where He wants us to be. Doesn’t it make sense to know God if we truly believe what we profess every time we come to worship? Good spiritual health makes this possible and achievable. This leads to equilibrium and a balance which is then offers a clear path to greater things.

God will not disappoint us. It is impossible for that to happen. Many of us may find that difficult to believe because of some sort of suffering or betrayal we have encountered in our lives but we cannot base our relationship with God on our other relationships we have had. God is perfect. God always has our best interests close to His heart. Everyone else that we have interacted with and will interact with is imperfect and their actions will reflect that. Our relationship with God cannot be influenced by the experiences we have with others in the past. It is through God that our experiences will be different and will have different outcomes. Regardless of where we were where we are going will be different with God central in our lives. The Apostle Paul tells us all good comes from God while the disappointments and challenges that we face take on a different meaning with God. The whole character of these obstacles change into something good. Things that threaten or harm us are only things that cause us to become stronger and will eventually be overcome for the greater glory of God and for our betterment.

When we are in right relationship with God things tend to fall into place. As our relationship with God deepens things will be revealed to us. We will have a deeper understanding of certain truths that can become guiding factors in our lives. Being open and receiving God’s Love, which He offers to us constantly, sets us on a course towards perfection and joy. We will be able to make adjustments to our behaviors, our thoughts, and our decisions that will benefit us and everyone who interacts with us. This becomes a positive experience for everyone involved and excludes no one. We are an expression of God’s Love and those who share in that expression join together in a beautiful masterpiece for others to partake in. All are invited to join. Those who do join with us and us with them; living the Holy Trinity.

Rom 5, 1-5

Por él hemos obtenido, con la fe, la entrada al mundo de la gracia, en el cual nos encontramos; por él, podemos gloriarnos de tener la esperanza de participar en la gloria de Dios.

Más aún, nos gloriamos hasta de los sufrimientos, pues sabemos que el sufrimiento engendra la paciencia, la paciencia engendra la virtud sólida, la virtud sólida engendra la esperanza, y la esperanza no defrauda, porque Dios ha infundido su amor en nuestros corazones por medio del Espíritu Santo, que él mismo nos ha dado.

Jn 16, 12-15

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Aún tengo muchas cosas que decirles, pero todavía no las pueden comprender. Pero cuando venga el Espíritu de la verdad, él los irá guiando hasta la verdad plena, porque no hablará por su cuenta, sino que dirá lo que haya oído y les anunciará las cosas que van a suceder. El me glorificará, porque primero recibirá de mí lo que les vaya comunicando. Todo lo que tiene el Padre es mío. Por eso he dicho que tomará de lo mío y se lo comunicará a ustedes".

Mis hermanos y hermanas,

 El domingo de la Trinidad nos invita a contemplar el misterio de la Santísima Trinidad y su relación con nosotros. Como cristianos, somos invitados a una relación con la Trinidad a través de nuestras interacciones con el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Independientemente de dónde estemos en nuestra vida de fe y nuestra espiritualidad, la Trinidad nos encuentra donde estamos. Para experimentar al Padre, pasamos por el Hijo mientras nos guiamos por el Amor de Dios, que es el Espíritu Santo. Nunca entenderemos todo acerca de la Trinidad, pero eso es lo esperado. Es el camino hacia la comprensión lo que es importante con el conocimiento previo de que todo se revelará cuando estemos en plena unidad con nuestro Dios. Hasta entonces, lo que realmente importa es la experiencia de estar en la relación y la espiritualidad que produce. Es imposible saberlo y entenderlo todo, pero en realidad no importa lo que realmente sepamos solo lo que hacemos con la sabiduría, el conocimiento y la comprensión que recibimos. Saber es un activo, pero experimentar a Dios en el momento es lo que realmente importa.

La Lectura del Libro de Proverbios menciona que el Espíritu Santo se derramó a través de la creación de Dios. Esto sucede constantemente y se promete que lo hará por toda la eternidad. Es un recordatorio de cómo todo surgió a través del Amor de Dios y continúa siéndolo por ello. El entablar una relación con Jesucristo y, a través de él, conocer al Padre nos permite abrirnos al Amor de Dios. Ser abierto y recibir el Amor de Dios, que Él nos ofrece constantemente, nos encamina hacia la perfección y la alegría. Podremos hacer ajustes a nuestros comportamientos, nuestros pensamientos y nuestras decisiones que nos beneficiarán a nosotros y a todos los que interactúan con nosotros. Esto se convierte en una experiencia positiva para todos los involucrados y no excluye a nadie. Somos una expresión del Amor de Dios y aquellos que comparten esa expresión se unen en una hermosa obra maestra para que otros puedan participar. Todos están invitados a unirse. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues,

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven
staying in Jerusalem.
At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd,
but they were confused
because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
They were astounded, and in amazement they asked,
"Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
Then how does each of us hear them in his native language?
We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites,

Reading 2 1 Cor 12:3b-7, 12-13

Brothers and sisters:
No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.

As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,
"Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained."

My Brothers and Sisters,

 Today we celebrate the Birthday of the Church when Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire upon His Apostles and Disciples, commissioning them to go out and spread the Good News of the Gospels, forgive sins, cast out demons, and heal the sick. What an exciting and invigorating day. We are all encouraged as God’s children to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit within all of us and understand the limitless potential that we all have because of the presence of God’s Love. We are no different than the Apostles and disciples that day. We are of no less importance than them. Through our relationship with Jesus we are commissioned to do the same work as His earlier followers and bring the Good News of Salvation to the entire world through our thoughts, actions, and deeds. Our lives are not our own. We belong to Jesus and He wants us to go out and bring His other children back to Him so that we all can experience God together in His creation in a great celebration to is to last an eternity.

Pentecost can serve as a time of renewal for all of us; a time to recommit to our values and Christian way of life. As the Easter Season ends we can go forward remembering that we are children of the Resurrection and of the Light which is Jesus Christ. Paul’s Letter today reminds us that the Spirit of God dwells within us and because of that we are alive in the spirit. This means that we are in tune with God and in right relationship with Him. When we are in that state and are receptive to what God is telling us then we will be able to experience this life the way that God intended us to. This will open up new experiences to us and a new understanding of what God truly wants for us. We become conduits of His message and are susceptible to a transformative experience through His presence.

Being alive in the spirit frees us from the burdens of the flesh and a life which is defined by an end which is finite. God brings us beyond the material world and into the spiritual world which has no limits or boundaries. The spirit is boundless because it is completely of God with no influence of man. It is pure and perfect; good and loving. Pentecost can be used as a springboard to bring us closer to God. This day asks us to concentrate on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, fortitude, piety, and the fear of God. When we are aware of the presence of God in our lives these gifts naturally flow forth as a result. They heal us, strengthen us, and keep us safe from the threats of evil in this world and bring us closer to God for these gifts are gifts of love. These are given freely so that we may benefit and then pass them on to others as they receive the Holy Spirit through us. We are working with God for our benefit and for all of those who interact with us.

As we continue to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit and are enveloped in God’s Love there will be a time when we realize that we won’t know where we end and God begins. This is a wonderful state of being which we are all encouraged to strive for by exploring our relationship with God. The deeper that we go the more we will understand and experience. Each moment becomes an opportunity that can either be used for us to increase or can be wasted by distractions and the taking back of our will in favor of abandoning that which is God’s will. The more that we experience the spirit in ourselves the more it will increase while that which is physical in nature will decrease and we will become closer to the Holy Spirit with no distractions or impediments. There will be only pure love. The love of God. What more is really needed?

Segunda Lectura

1 Cor 12, 3b-7. 12-13

Hermanos: Nadie puede llamar a Jesús "Señor", si no es bajo la acción del Espíritu Santo.

Hay diferentes dones, pero el Espíritu es el mismo. Hay diferentes servicios, pero el Señor es el mismo. Hay diferentes actividades, pero Dios, que hace todo en todos, es el mismo. En cada uno se manifiesta el Espíritu para el bien común.

Porque así como el cuerpo es uno y tiene muchos miembros y todos ellos, a pesar de ser muchos, forman un solo cuerpo, así también es Cristo. Porque todos nosotros, seamos judíos o no judíos, esclavos o libres, hemos sido bautizados en un mismo Espíritu para formar un solo cuerpo, y a todos se nos ha dado a beber del mismo Espíritu.

Hermanos: Los que viven en forma desordenada y egoísta no pueden agradar a Dios. Pero ustedes no llevan esa clase de vida, sino una vida conforme al Espíritu, puesto que el Espíritu de Dios habita verdaderamente en ustedes. Quien no tiene el Espíritu de Cristo, no es de Cristo. En cambio, si Cristo vive en ustedes, aunque su cuerpo siga sujeto a la muerte a causa del pecado, su espíritu vive a causa de la actividad salvadora de Dios. Si el Espíritu del Padre, que resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos, habita en ustedes, entonces el Padre, que resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos, también les dará vida a sus cuerpos mortales, por obra de su Espíritu, que habita en ustedes.

Por lo tanto, hermanos, no estamos sujetos al desorden egoísta del hombre, para hacer de ese desorden nuestra regla de conducta. Pues si ustedes viven de ese modo, ciertamente serán destruidos. Por el contrario, si con la ayuda del Espíritu destruyen sus malas acciones, entonces vivirán.

Los que se dejan guiar por el Espíritu de Dios, ésos son hijos de Dios. No han recibido ustedes un espíritu de esclavos, que los haga temer de nuevo, sino un espíritu de hijos, en virtud del cual podemos llamar Padre a Dios.

El mismo Espíritu Santo, a una con nuestro propio espíritu, da testimonio de que somos hijos de Dios. Y si somos hijos, somos también herederos de Dios y coherederos con Cristo, puesto que sufrimos con él para ser glorificados junto con él.

Jn 20, 19-23

Al anochecer del día de la resurrección, estando cerradas las puertas de la casa donde se hallaban los discípulos, por miedo a los judíos, se presentó Jesús en medio de ellos y les dijo: "La paz esté con ustedes". Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado.

Cuando los discípulos vieron al Señor, se llenaron de alegría. De nuevo les dijo Jesús: "La paz esté con ustedes. Como el Padre me ha enviado, así también los envío yo".

Después de decir esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: "Reciban el Espíritu Santo. A los que les perdonen los pecados, les quedarán perdonados; y a los que no se los perdonen, les quedarán sin perdonar".

Mis hermanos y hermanas,

 Hoy celebramos el cumpleaños de la Iglesia cuando Jesucristo envió al Espíritu Santo en forma de lenguas de fuego sobre sus apóstoles y discípulos, comisionándolos a salir y difundir la Buena Nueva de los Evangelios, perdonar pecados, expulsar demonios y sanar a los enfermos. Qué día tan emocionante y estimulante. Todos somos animados como hijos de Dios a reconocer la presencia del Espíritu Santo en todos nosotros y entender el potencial ilimitado que todos tenemos debido a la presencia del Amor de Dios. No somos diferentes a los apóstoles y discípulos ese día. No somos menos importantes que ellos. A través de nuestra relación con Jesús, somos comisionados a hacer el mismo trabajo que Sus seguidores anteriores y llevar la Buena Nueva de la Salvación al mundo entero a través de nuestros pensamientos, acciones y acciones. Nuestras vidas no son las nuestras. 

 Pertenecemos a Jesús y Él quiere que salgamos y traigamos a Sus otros hijos para que podamos experimentar a Dios juntos en Su creación en una gran celebración para que dure una eternidad.

Pentecostés puede servir como un tiempo de renovación para todos nosotros; Un tiempo para volver a comprometernos con nuestros valores y estilo de vida cristiano. A medida que termina la temporada de Pascua, podemos avanzar recordando que somos hijos de la Resurrección y de la Luz que es Jesucristo. La Carta de Pablo de hoy nos recuerda que el Espíritu de Dios mora en nosotros y por eso estamos vivos en el espíritu. Esto significa que estamos en sintonía con Dios y en una relación correcta con él. Cuando estemos en ese estado y seamos receptivos a lo que Dios nos está diciendo, entonces podremos experimentar esta vida de la manera que Dios nos propuso. Esto nos abrirá nuevas experiencias y una nueva comprensión de lo que Dios realmente quiere para nosotros. Nos convertimos en conductos de Su mensaje y somos susceptibles a una experiencia transformadora a través de Su presencia.

Estar vivo en el espíritu nos libera de las cargas de la carne y de una vida que se define por un fin que es finito. Dios nos lleva más allá del mundo material y al mundo espiritual que no tiene límites ni límites. El espíritu no tiene límites porque es completamente de Dios sin influencia del hombre. Es puro y perfecto; bueno y cariñoso Pentecostés puede usarse como un trampolín para acercarnos más a Dios. Este día nos pide que nos concentremos en los Dones del Espíritu Santo: sabiduría, conocimiento, entendimiento, consejo, fortaleza, piedad y el temor de Dios. Cuando somos conscientes de la presencia de Dios en nuestras vidas, estos dones fluyen naturalmente como resultado. Nos sanan, nos fortalecen y nos protegen de las amenazas del mal en este mundo y nos acercan a Dios porque estos regalos son regalos de amor. Estos se dan gratuitamente para que podamos beneficiarnos y luego transmitirlos a otros a medida que reciben el Espíritu Santo a través de nosotros. Estamos trabajando con Dios para nuestro beneficio y para todos aquellos que interactúan con nosotros.

A medida que continuamos experimentando la presencia del Espíritu Santo y estamos envueltos en el Amor de Dios, habrá un momento en que nos daremos cuenta de que no sabremos dónde terminamos y comienza Dios. Este es un maravilloso estado del ser por el cual todos estamos animados a luchar por explorar nuestra relación con Dios. Cuanto más profundicemos, más comprenderemos y experimentaremos. Cada momento se convierte en una oportunidad que se puede usar para aumentar o se puede desperdiciar en distracciones y en recuperar nuestra voluntad para abandonar lo que es la voluntad de Dios. Cuanto más experimentemos el espíritu en nosotros mismos, más aumentará, mientras que lo que es de naturaleza física disminuirá y nos acercaremos más al Espíritu Santo sin distracciones ni impedimentos. Solo habrá amor puro. El amor de Dios. ¿Qué más se necesita realmente?
